The Orlando International Course finished a couple of weeks ago so a group of local Avatar Masters decided to have a two-day ReSurfacing Course here in Orlando, FL on July 14-15, 2007. I just created a kind of group calendar for people to experience Avatar in a great, easy way. I'm using a site called MeetUp.com to let people who want to get together for an introduction to Avatar register and join me for an evening exploration. But what if you don't live in Orlando, FL? Well, not to worry. We've got you covered. The introduction starts with a video showing Harry Palmer, author of the Avatar materials, talking to one of the recent advanced courses. Turns out that this is available as on online video podcast so you can watch it anywhere in the world. The next part of the evening is going through the Belief Management Mini-Course. In July 2002 a friend casually mentioned the Avatar Course to me in an email. All he said was something like, "Have you checked out the Avatar Course, it sounds a lot like what you're describing." That was on a Thursday. In the next two days I downloaded a copy of "Living Deliberately" by Harry Palmer and connected with an Avatar Master. That Saturday I started the Avatar Course. I could only take the first two-day ReSurfacing Course on that weekend as I came in at the end of the full course. I registered for the next International Course which was in October of that year. Why was I so deeply affected by this work in such a short time? I had been through many modalities of "change work". I'd studied by myself, worked with coaches and therapists and counselors. I'd joined groups and taken courses, learned to meditate, learned yoga and tai chi, and may other forms of eastern spiritual practice. I'd read countless books and given most of their advice and exercises a good go. And I was still experiencing life in ways that were not what I wanted. One of the first things I noticed about the Avatar Course was that no one was telling me what to believe or how to live my life. All the Masters were concerned with was creating a non-judgmental space for me to learn how to use the tools. What I did with those tools was up to me. They appreciated everything that I brought and provided all the emotional support anyone could ever need. My job was to bring my life to the course and be willing to look at my own consciousness. Somehow I must have intuitively felt all of this on that Thursday because I hooked up to the energy from this Course and haven't looked back. I'm telling you all of this because you'll soon have an opportunity to find out for yourself the power, simplicity and beauty of this amazing technology. A few times a year, Masters from around the world gather to create an International Avatar Course. We're doing just that this June. The course runs from June 23 through July 1, 2007. We'll be at the Lake Mary Marriott in Lake Mary, Florida. It's a great hotel in a wonderful part of town. But that's not the reason you should join us there. We'll have people from all over the planet coming together to experience these tools and learn how to work together to explore the consciousness of each individual. There will be many languages, many perspectives, many opportunities to experience a different way of relating to each other. But that's not the reason you should join us there. We'll offer all three sections of the Avatar Course in nine days. The ReSurfacing Course - Section I - starts on the weekend, with Section II and III following for the rest of the week. Moving through the Course in a straight shot like this builds incredible energy and flow as you work with first one exercise and then another. The sequence of exercises have been proven by over 100,000 people since 1987 to unlock the secrets of your consciousness. And that's a pretty good reason for you to join us there but... The real reason to join us is because it's your time. It's been my experience as a licensed Avatar Master, that people do this course when it's time for them. They decide to follow that still-small-voice inside. Or maybe, as in my case, they feel a pull of energy and know that this experience is absolutely the next on their path. I'm in the third week of a unique online discussion group. Each week we watch one or two short thought provoking videos and spend the rest of the week in a conversation about the subject of those videos. One of the discussion questions for this week is, "What do you think/feel is trying to emerge now at this point in the human journey?" Here's my response to this question. Contemplating the question about what is trying to emerge right now, I was struck by the connection between the words "emerge" and "emergency". They both share a common source but they feel so different to me. I looked them up and found a couple of interesting ways these words can be used. Emerge can mean to become visible, to rise above the surface. Emergency can mean a situation demanding immediate action. How do we get from becoming aware that something is emerging to deciding we have an emergency? Perhaps our desire for change is matched by our resistance to it. Or maybe we move from desire to resistance depending on the circumstance and our ability to handle it. Sometimes our desire outweighs our resistance, sometimes it's the other way around. When we move from desiring change to resisting it, it feels like we're in an emergency. We want things to be "better" but somehow we feel fearful when things don't stay the same. It feels like an emergency, like we're in a situation demanding immediate action. We're experiencing increases in the rate of change - the rate of things emerging - and that feels like an emergency to many of us. David said in the video that our sense of wonder is the defining human trait. It would seem that we've created amazing extensions of our senses through the technology of video and the internet. Perhaps we've decided at some level below the surface of mass consciousness, that it's time to move to the next phase of our journey. Perhaps what's emerging is a combination of tangible connection through technology that is matched by an intangible connection through consciousness. The awareness that we truly are one is rising above the surface of consciousness in ways that can no longer be dismissed. At the same time, we're discovering that we are more unique than we could have ever imagined. I'm sure many people would feel such an emergence is an emergency. They feel fearful rather than celebrating our transition. We are the mother, the father, the new born, and the midwife - all at the same time! Maybe our part in all of this is simply to be present with it, feel and appreciate it all, and continue to hold the vision that everything is all right. -a- PS - you can get more information about this conversation at http://www.global-mindshift.org.

There's an old saying that goes something like “The cobbler's children are the worst shod.”

Generally, it means that what we do for others (particularly our job) we don't do well for ourselves.

This is always a problem for those of us in the marketing business as we would like to market ourselves as effectively as we market for our clients - but we rarely succeed. I think the same is true for most people whatever their profession or job.

We rarely are interested in spending our nights and weekends doing the same thing we do all day long during the work week. At least for me, it seems like there is always something more important to be done than market my own ventures.

In a recent coaching session with another professional, the idea came up about paying ourselves first.

This is not a new idea. It is one of the first things people need to learn about saving money. If you put some money in savings at the first of the month, you'll find a way to make ends meet with what's left. If you wait until the end of the month to see what you can put into savings, you'll likely find your savings account never growing.

But the idea of paying myself first regarding my own business struck me pretty soundly.

I realized that I actually was putting all kinds of things first rather than the things that I knew had long term benefit.

I wondered, “Why do I find it difficult to do the things I know to do?”

I found some very interesting old beliefs sitting at the bottom of that pile of to-do lists. Mostly they were beliefs that tended to produce a state of doing nothing.

About four times a year, I take nine days and teach a self development course called the Avatar^® Course. It's an amazing set of exercises that allow people to discover the blueprint of their lives. They learn how to change that blueprint, if they choose, and create the life they prefer. I'm licensed and trained as an Avatar Master and it meets one of my most important life goals - influencing and empowering others for good.

But the last time I made any real changes to my Avatar site was in 2003. I'd added a few pages to the site but the web - and my perspective - have changed a lot since then.

I've wanted to updated the site for several months but somehow never got around to it.

Using the Avatar tools, I kept working my way through the beliefs that were keeping me from updating the site until I'd cleared a good bit of space. Then I decided to treat myself like my best client.
